How to Add Puppy 4.21 to Grub

December 14

Grub is a software application used to boot Linux systems. It is fully compatible with Puppy Linux 4.21 and is the software's default boot loader. Grub can be overwritten by the installation of other operating systems including additional Linux or BSD distributions as well as Microsoft Windows. Adding Puppy Linux to the Grub menu can be accomplished from the Puppy Linux setup disc.

Instructions

1

Insert the Puppy Linux installation disc into your computer's optical drive.

2

Restart your computer, then press "Enter" when the "Linux Kernel Loader" screen appears.

3

Click "Repair Boot Loader" from the list of "Puppy Linux" options.

4

Press "Y" when asked to scan your hard disks. All operating systems will have a GRUB menu entry generated for them.

5

Press "Y" to confirm the list, then press "Y" again to confirm overwriting the computer's Master Boot Record with the new boot entries. Your Puppy Linux installation will appear on GRUB as "Puppy 4.21."
